About

The cook behind the camera.

Antara is a Bengali food creator, recipe developer and culinary storyteller based in Bangalore — endlessly curious about why we cook what we cook.

I did not set out to be a food creator. I set out to keep recipes from disappearing — the kind that live in sound and smell, not in notebooks. Somewhere between the first photograph and the hundredth, that archival impulse turned into a practice: recipes, films and stories made with intention.

Today that practice spans recipe development and branded content, an ongoing personal archive, and two chapters still being written — a product line and a small academy.

Chapter 01

The cook

I cook the way I was taught — by instinct first, measurement second. My foundation is the Bengali home kitchen: mustard oil, posto, jaggery, and the discipline of not wasting anything. Everything else — baking, styling, the camera — was learned slowly, on purpose, plate by plate.

Chapter 02

The influences

Bengal gives me my grammar: the sequence of a meal, the insistence of the seasons, the way a single lemon can perfume a room. Modern kitchens give me my syntax — cleaner plating, sharper light, a global pantry. The conversation between the two is where my point of view lives.

Chapter 03

The work

With brands, I act as a creative partner rather than a billboard: developing recipes that would survive without the brief, styling with restraint, and telling the product's story as honestly as my own. Paid, gifted or organic — every collaboration is labelled plainly.

Chapter 04

The process

Every project starts away from the stove: reading, eating, listening. Then the testing begins — a dish is cooked until it stops performing and starts belonging. Only then does the camera come out.

Chapter 05

Beyond the kitchen

I collect spice tins, chase monsoon light with an unreasonable camera, and keep an unscientific record of every market I have ever visited. I am told this counts as a personality.
